Visit Shuanglin Temple. Shuanglin Temple (Double-Grove Temple) is one of the most important historical sites in Pingyao. The highlight of the temple is its thousands of spectacular painted sculptures.

Then visit Qiao Family’s Compound. This compound displays special characteristics of the North China residences of the Qing Dynasty (1636-1911). It was first built in 1756, was renovated and enlarged several times before becoming this large and magnificent compound.

Today you will further discover the ancient town of Pingyao.

You will enter the Rishengchang Draft Bank, Bank of Ri Sheng Chang (Sunrise Prosperity) initiated by Mr. Lei Lutai began its banking business as early as 1824. It was eligibly the first bank in China and represented the start of the Chinese finance business.

You will then get to have a look at the Ancient City Walls, built with rammed earth inside and brick and stone outside, they measure 10 meters high and 6162.7 meters long with 3-5 meters wide tops.

Finally, you will walk along Pingyao Mingqing Street. Dotted with memorial archways and decorated gateways, the old houses and courtyards flanking the streets and lanes remind visitors of the long History of the area and show of its traditional architecture. Walking along the ancient streets, you will feel as if you had travelled back in time.

Cancellation Policy

  • If any cancellation is received following a booking, the following general cancellation policy will apply:
  • Between 30 and 21 days prior to arrival : 20% of total amount is due
  • Between 20 and 7 days prior to arrival : 50% of total amount is due
  • Between 6 days and 2 day prior to arrival: 75% of total amount is due
  • 1 day or No-show: 100% of total amount is due

Thomas Cook China will not be liable for performance delays or for non-performance, due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, actions by any government authority (whether valid or invalid), fires, floods, windstorms, riots, explosions, natural disasters, wars, sabotage, labor problems (including lockouts, strikes and slowdowns), or court injunction or order.
