Melbourne has been named among the world’s most liveable cities many times, and is known for its endearing European vibe. In fact, American and European visitors have described it as “more European than Europe”. It is a peaceful, elegant and vibrant city, both in terms of its buildings as well as its people.

There will be a chance to visit the city’s great cathedrals, Captain Cook’s Cottage, home of the British captain who discovered Australia, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. After that, visit the famous Little Italy, a street food paradise where you will find Melbourne's best smoked ham, lasagne, cheese, and chicken salads, as well as acclaimed Ferrari-themed restaurants Café Cavallino and Café Corretto.

Follow a small path up to the viewing deck which overlooks the beautiful Yarra Valley with its hills topped with dreamy clouds. The winery also has a gallery displaying a wide range of art for sale. An impressive showcase displays vintages and fine wines that mark important milestones in the winery’s history.

Along the way you will encounter several small yet charming fishing towns, and will stop at each one to experience their tranquil lifestyle.

The return journey along Great Ocean Road runs a total length of 600 kilometres, so the tour will stop for the night here. At night, you will stay along Great Ocean Road in Apollo Bay.

D5Great Ocean Road - Melbourne

Today you will continue to enjoy the stunning coastline views of the Great Ocean Road. Along the way, you might be lucky enough to encounter some of the area’s sleepy wild inhabitants: koalas.

At the end of the Great Ocean Road is the famous Twelve Apostles: twelve broken rock walls that were formed over millions of years of changing weather and erosion. Standing independently in the deep blue ocean reef, each rock has a unique shape and pattern, resembling human shapes which explains the name “Twelve Apostles”. You may also choose to take a helicopter tour for a breath-taking bird’s eye view of these natural wonders.

D7Great Barrier Reef

Hop aboard the Quicksilver, the Great Barrier Reef’s most luxurious cruise. The further out to sea you travel, the more gorgeous the view becomes as the reef slowly unfolds before you. The boat stops at Agincourt, the most ancient and beautiful part of the reef where only a limited number of visitors are permitted each day. If you will only see the Great Barrier Reef once in a lifetime, this cruise is definitely the way to do it.

An English breakfast will be served after boarding at 9:30, and we will arrive at the Agincourt Reef Platform at around 11:30. Here we can choose from a range of activities to view the reef, such as a semi-submersible tour, snorkeling, scuba diving, underwater observatory, ocean walking, scenic helicopter tour and more. Another benefit of taking the Quicksilver is they have experienced oceanographers on board to answer any questions you might have to help you learn more about this precious wonder of nature. A delicious lunch of fresh seafood, salads and more will be served.

At around 17:30 you will return to Cairns and check-in to a seaside hotel. We recommend having dinner at the hotel, which is famous for its steaks and lamb chops and perfectly complemented by your choice of fine wines from Melbourne. After that, you may choose to enjoy a pleasant walk along the esplanade cooled by the mild Pacific winds, the perfect formula to put you in a relaxing holiday mood.
