D2Muscat – Nakhl - Wadi Bani Awf - Bilad Sayt – Jebel Shams

Meet your guide after breakfast and commence on a journey along the Batinah Coast in the most fertile region in Oman. We will make a quick stop at Barka, a seaside town with small souks, which are Arab marketplaces, a fort along the shoreline, and a renowned fish market. Your next stop will be Nakhl to see a 17th century fortress spectacularly perched on a rocky outcropping in the foothills of the Western Hajar Mountains. The fort is pre-Islamic, built with major contributions by the Al Yaruba and Al Busaid dynasties. Move inland to see the mineral-laden hot springs and spend some time relaxing in the shades of date palms, where we will have a picnic lunch.

From Nakhl, proceed to the beautiful remote village of Billad Sayt in the Western Hajars. Near Awabi, we turn toward the stunning Wadi Bani Awf, a ravine that offers some of the best views in the country. After a spectacular drive, reach the arresting village of Bilad Sayt, where you will be treated to a stunning view of palm groves and terraced gardens between stone walls. From here, we proceed to Jabel Shams, Oman’s highest peak at a staggering 3,000 metres. Feel the temperatures dip on top of the canyon.

D3Jebel Shams - Al Hamra – Misfat Al Abrien – Bahla – Jabrin - Nizwa

Meet your trekking guide and take the famous W6 Cliff Walk to an abandoned village. It is an easy but exciting four-kilometre hike along steep canyon walls to an old village – and feels like you are stepping centuries back in time. You will be at an altitude of 1,800 to 1,900 metres, expect a walking time of roughly 90 minutes each way. Upon completion, you will head down to the old village of Ghul to see abandoned Persian ruins. Proceed to Misfat Al Abrein, a picturesque village strapped to the side of a mountain. As you survey this village, where time has come to a standstill, you will be moved by the simplicity and friendliness of the people. Shaded by lemon trees, little streets wind upwards to hillside houses, as if carved out of rock, with spiral staircases leading to dizzying terraces.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will continue to Jabrin Fort, one of the most magnificent forts of Oman with its painted ceilings, dungeons and hidden passageways. Finely painted flowers and symbols are found on the ceilings in the living rooms.
