Take an international flight to Christchurch via Auckland.

Upon arrival, be met by your guide and transfer to Christchurch for a city tour. Visit Victoria Square, City Hall, the Floral Clock, and take a boat trip along the Avon River. Next, see Christ’s College and Canterbury Museum. In the evening, enjoy a Maori-style dinner with singing and dancing performances by Maori Warriors.

D3Christchurch - Transalpine Train - Shantytown - Southern Alps

This morning, get onboard the Transalpine train, one of the world’s most famous journeys. Cross the farmlands of Canterbury Plains, enjoy thrilling views, of the mighty Southern Alps and arrive at Arthur’s Pass, the tallest train station in New Zealand.  

Visit Shantytown, a heritage park that showcases the gold rush history of New Zealand. Try your luck in panning gold, take an antique steam train into the bush and enjoy some short nature walks. 

As the day wanes, make your way to the foothills of the Southern Alps.

D4Franz Josef Glacier - Fox Glacier - Lake Matheson - Wanaka

Today, take a short walk on the glaciers. Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier impress with their massive rivers of ice.

Afterwards, travel to Lake Matheson to enjoy stunning views and mountain reflections of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman.

In the evening, descend to the banks of Laka Wanaka.

D5Wanaka - Arrowtown – Queenstown

This morning, head to Arrowtown, a historic gold mining town. A special highlight is the Chinese settlement at the edge of the river. Built by Chinese miners from 1868, this area of restored shelters and buildings paints a picture of earlier times.

En-route to Queenstown, stop at the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge, the birthplace of commercial bungee jumping.  Defy gravity and satisfy your thrills by jumping off the bridge.

Arrive in Queenstown in the evening. The town is surrounded by lakes, mountains and is known for its rich outdoor activities.  Take the Skyline Queenstown Gondala up to Bob’s Peak to for a view of the town’s landscape. Overlook Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu, while enjoying a buffet dinner at the Skyline Stratosphere Restaurant & Bar.

Today, take a scenic cruise on Lake Wakatipu aboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw.  After disembarkation, enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch alongside the lake and a tour of the Walter Peak High Country Farm. Watch a sheep shearing demonstration and help feed the farm animals.

Back in Queenstown, take a stroll around The Mall, where you can find souvenir shops, exotic specialty shops, cafes and bars.

D7Queenstown – Milford Sound - Te Anau

Today, proceed to the Milford Sound, a World Heritage Site which is perhaps the most iconic of New Zealand’s natural sites. Embark on a scenic cruise along the fiord, passing glaciers, mountains, forests and waterfalls.

Disembark in the picturesque township of Te Anau, nestled along Lake Te Anau, and surrounded by mountains and rivers.

In the evening, cruise on Lake Te Anau and visit the Glowworm Caves. Experience rapid waters before drifting in silent darkness beneath the florescent colors of hundreds of glowworms.

Travel to Cook Mountain National Park, home to some of the highest mountains and the longest glaciers in New Zealand.

D9Mount Cook National Park - Lake Tekapo (Good Shepherd Church) - Christchurch - Auckland – Departure

Today, embark on a Glacier expedition by boat. Explore New Zealand's largest glacier, the Tasman Glacier. Explore and learn about the country’s ever-changing glacial landscape.

Leaving Mount Cook National Park, you will arrive at Lake Tekapo. Situated on the shores of Lake Tekapo is the Church of the Good Shepherd. From there, the views of the mountains are stunning.

Tonight, transfer to Christchurch airport for your return flight.

Arrive China on Day 10.

Payment

Full payment is due 14 days prior to departure. Thomas Cook China reserves the right to release all services in case of payment default.

 

Cancellation Policy

If any cancellation is received following a booking, the following general cancellation policy will apply:

  • Between 30 and 21 days prior to arrival : 20% of total amount is due
  • Between 20 and 7 days prior to arrival : 50% of total amount is due
  • Between 6 days and 2 day prior to arrival: 75% of total amount is due
  • 1 day or No-show: 100% of total amount is due

 

Force Majeure

Thomas Cook China will not be liable for performance delays or for non-performance, due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, actions by any government authority (whether valid or invalid), fires, floods, windstorms, riots, explosions, natural disasters, wars, sabotage, labor problems (including lockouts, strikes and slowdowns), or court injunction or order.
