Today, visit the Yungang Grottos, along with Dazu, Longmen and Mogao, it is one of the top four Buddhist Grottos in China. Located at the foot of the Wuzhou mountain, there are 53 grottos with about 51,000 statues.  The highlight is the Big Buddha grotto which houses the tallest Buddha.

In the afternoon, visit Huayan Temple, the original ancestral Buddhist temple of the imperial family and Nine Dragon Screen, the oldest and largest glazed screen in China today. It is three times larger than that in Beihai Park , Beijing City.

D3Datong - Pingyao

Today, drive to Pingyao (388km, 4 hours). En-route, visit Hanging Monastery, a spectacular Taoist temple built high on a vertical cliff and hangs high about 50 meters above ground, a rare engineering feat from over 1400 years ago.  Also, visit Yingxian Wooden Pagoda - the world's oldest and tallest wooden pagoda.

D4Pingyao

Pingyao is one of the best preserved ancient cities in China and has been listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site. Today, enjoy a city tour.

Tour the Ri Sheng Chang Financial House and walk on the ancient City Wall.  Stroll along the alleys of the Ming and Qing Style residences.  The streets and storefronts, with their memorial archways and courtyards have retained their historical appearances and remind visitors of the Pingyao’s ancestral past.

D5Departure - Pingyao

This morning, head to Shuanglin Temple, a historical site of Pingyao County, and reputed for its thousands of ancient painted sculptures.

 

 

 

In the afternoon, visit the Wang's Compound, a masterpiece of Qing Dynasty luxury residences built during 1762-1811 by the descendants of the Wang Family, one of the Four Families of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in Shanxi Province.

Payment

Full payment is due 14 days prior to departure. Thomas Cook China reserves the right to release all services in case of payment default.

 

Cancellation Policy

If any cancellation is received following a booking, the following general cancellation policy will apply:

  • Between 30 and 21 days prior to arrival : 20% of total amount is due
  • Between 20 and 7 days prior to arrival : 50% of total amount is due
  • Between 6 days and 2 day prior to arrival: 75% of total amount is due
  • 1 day or No-show: 100% of total amount is due

Thomas Cook China will not be liable for performance delays or for non-performance, due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, actions by any government authority (whether valid or invalid), fires, floods, windstorms, riots, explosions, natural disasters, wars, sabotage, labor problems (including lockouts, strikes and slowdowns), or court injunction or order.
