D1Medan - Bohorok

Arrive at Medan’s airport, meet with your guide and head to Bukit Lawang driving through vast rubber and oil palm plantations. 

Once at Bukit Lawang, cross the river on a hanging cable plank bridge and arrive at your home for the night: Bukit Lawang Cottage.

D2Bohorok – Parapat – Samosir Island

After an early breakfast, head to the Orang-utan rehabilitation centre. A quite steep trail through the forest leads to a feeding platform where the orang-utans are fed ration of bananas and milk twice daily. Watch this fascinating ritual.

Afterwards, return to the cottage for a short rest before continuing to Parapat. Lunch will be provided in Parapat. 

After lunch, get a boat to Samosir Island on Lake Toba.

D3Samosir Island

After breakfast at the hotel, start your boat tour. The tour will stop in different places including visits to Ambarita village to see remnants from megalithic culture and Simanindo village for its typical Toba Batak houses and folk dance performed by the locals. Thereafter, stop at the tiny Tao Island for a short rest and swimming if you wish. 

Then, return to your hotel for lunch. 

In the afternoon, visit Tomok where you will see the ancient graveyard and sarcophagus of King Sidabutar’s family. Next, enjoy some free time to browse local souvenirs.

D4Samosir Island – Parapat – Berastagi - Medan

In the morning after breakfast, board on the boat and ride back to Parapat. Continue your journey by land to Medan through the picturesque town of Berastagi where you will have lunch in a local restaurant. 

This is a pleasing drive across the Karo Plateau with some stops en-route at:

Pematang Purba to visit with the long house Ruma Bolon which belonged to Royal families of the Simalungun Batak Tribe

Tongging Hill for amazing views of the northern part of Lake Toba 

Sipiso-piso waterfall

Lingga or Peceran village to see traditional houses of the Karo Batak Tribe and take a glimpse at the local’s way of life

Local fruit market

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

Payment

Full payment is due 14 days prior to departure. Thomas Cook China reserves the right to release all services in case of payment default.

Cancellation Policy

If any cancellation is received following a booking, the following general cancellation policy will apply:

  • Between 30 and 21 days prior to arrival : 20% of total amount is due
  • Between 20 and 7 days prior to arrival : 50% of total amount is due
  • Between 6 days and 2 day prior to arrival: 75% of total amount is due
  • 1 day or No-show: 100% of total amount is due

Thomas Cook China will not be liable for performance delays or for non-performance, due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, actions by any government authority (whether valid or invalid), fires, floods, windstorms, riots, explosions, natural disasters, wars, sabotage, labour problems (including lockouts, strikes and slowdowns), or court injunction or order.
